Title IX
Melba School District does not discriminate on the basis of sex in any of its education programs or activities, including admissions and employment, as required by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. This protection applies to students, employees, applicants, and families.
What Title IX Covers
Title IX is a federal civil rights law. It protects people from discrimination based on sex, including:
- Sexual harassment, including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking
- Unequal access to classes, programs, activities, or athletics because of sex
- Discrimination against students who are pregnant or parenting
The district does not allow retaliation against anyone who reports a concern, files a complaint, or takes part in an investigation.
How to Report a Concern
Anyone can report sex discrimination or sexual harassment, whether or not they are the person it happened to. You can contact the Title IX Coordinator in person, by mail, by phone, or by email. Reports by mail or email can be made at any time, including outside of school hours.
Students and families can also tell any teacher, counselor, or administrator, who will make sure the Title IX Coordinator is informed.
